Homebodii Bride of the Month: Jacintha Shea White

A little bit about me..

I was born and raised in South Africa. I moved to the UK all alone 4 and a half years ago and met Tom, my sweet husband. We then packed up and moved to the Gold Coast, Australia together almost forever ago. We have fallen in love with this country, and have made friends that are our family! We decided to have our wedding back home in the bush in South Africa, and were lucky enough to have our friends and family from the UK and Australia all come out to see Africa and celebrate with us!

Our approach to planning the wedding was…

To keep everything as chilled and simple as possible! This did not end up happening, our wedding ended up BIG and beautiful! And the planning process was stressful. I ended up taking control very early on, and ensured every vision I had came to life. And it was perfect!

We spent the money on the photographer and videographer we chose. They were worth every penny and I say to all my engaged friends now, don’t sacrifice on photos and videos - it’s the only things you have left afterwards to remember that best day of your life! 

The most unexpected part of the day was…

How unemotional I was leading up to the aisle. I thought I would cry all morning, especially when reading cards and letters, but I just didn’t. I think it was the stress. But when I saw Tom at the altar, I broke down!

When I look back now, I feel…

I feel complete joy and happiness! Our wedding day was genuinely the best day of our life and was more perfect and special than we could’ve imagined. I feel sad that it’s over, but looking back at videos and photos overwhelms me with emotion.

My advice to new brides is…

Have an on the day coordinator (at least, wedding planner if possible), who organises, coordinates and delegates everything! You don’t want to be thinking about anything on your day except you and your husband. Slow down on the day, soak up every moment, be so present every second, it flies by far too quickly!

My Homebodii moment was special because…

My Homebodii moment was special because I wore the Persephone Robe in white and it made me feel so incredibly beautiful and bridal in the morning whilst getting ready with my girls. My Dad actually made a joke and said “I thought the gown was your wedding dress” because it was so beautiful.
