Homebodii Bride of the Month: Alex McKenna

A little bit about me…

I’m a content creator living in Manchester with my now-husband. We got engaged in November 2023 in Bali and have spent the last 18 months planning our Spanish destination wedding. 

 Our approach to planning the wedding was… 

Our approach to planning the wedding was to make every detail feel meaningful and true to us. We focused on creating a celebration that reflected our story, our values, and the people we love most, rather than following tradition just for tradition’s sake. We wanted to enjoy the process, stay flexible, and focus on what really mattered — celebrating our love with our closest friends and family.

Looking back, we’re so glad that we… 

Looking back, we’re so glad we chose suppliers we had complete faith in. It really does matter who you bring into your wedding team. Our celebrant was so excited to get to know us and our story, and it truly showed during the ceremony how much she cared. Our florist completely understood my vision, and it was so beautiful seeing everything come to life on the day. And our amazing photographer, videographer, and content creators gave us everything we could have ever asked for. Not only were they an absolute dream to work with, making us feel so at ease, but they also completely captured the vibe we wanted. Looking back at the photos and videos has become a daily ritual since!

The most unexpected part of the day was… 

The most unexpected part of the day was how beautifully the dinner transitioned into the party. We had our saxophonist play during the champagne tower, with everyone dancing around us and grabbing champagne coupes. Everyone naturally headed inside to the dance floor to continue the party — it felt so seamless and dreamlike. It’s definitely one of my favourite moments. 

When I look back now, I feel… 

When I look back now, I feel so proud of what we achieved and so happy that it was everything we ever dreamed of. It feels like we’ve accomplished such a massive milestone in life, and the memories are ones I’ll be obsessed with forever.

My advice to new brides… 

My advice to new brides is to enjoy the process leading up to the wedding, because as everyone says, it really does go by so quickly! Also, let any stress melt away on the morning of the wedding so you can be truly present. Everything will be amazing, and even if things don’t go completely to plan, your guests will never know the difference.

My Homebodii moment was special because…

 My Homebodii moment was so special because I was able to share it with my gorgeous bridesmaids. We all felt so beautiful wearing the white Sian robes, which are incredibly soft and luxurious. We’re completely obsessed with the photos!
